Katharine Sacks-Jones, Director of Agenda said:
“We welcome this funding and in particular the focus on women with complex needs. We worked closely with the government to make sure the difficulties these women face are recognised by this fund. Some 1.2million women in England have experienced extensive violence and abuse as both a child and an adult: too many struggle to cope with the aftermath and end up in poverty, with serious mental health problems, addicted to drugs or alcohol, homeless or in prison.
“These women need support with the long-term impacts of their experiences but too often services are unable to meet their needs and women can find themselves turned away from support. We look forward to seeing some of these funds spent on services which help the most excluded women and children rebuild their lives, as well as to escape from abuse.”
